Sedation Dentistry in Fort Worth

It is very common to feel nervous prior to having dental work. Our team takes great care to address both pain and anxiety through the use of local anesthesia and laughing gas, and you can watch TV during your treatment!

Understanding Local Anesthesia

A local anesthetic is applied by injection directly to the area that we’ll be working on. It leaves your mouth numb and blocks the pain.

While side effects are very rare, the numbness from local anesthesia tends to linger for a couple of hours after you leave the dentist. Since you can’t feel parts of your lips and tongue, you may talk a little funny until it wears off. When the anesthesia finally does wear off, you may sense some tenderness or soreness.

Unlike oral sedation, local anesthesia does not knock you out. And it won't affect your ability to drive.

About Laughing Gas

Dentists have been using laughing gas as a way to treat pain for more than 150 years. Anxious patients benefit from the calming nature of this treatment, making the trip to the dentist less stressful.

Laughing gas is administered to patients to relax them during the treatments. Since it is harmless, patients are quick to rebound once it wears off. It leaves patients relaxed and almost euphoric during treatment.

With laughing gas, you’ll be awake and aware throughout your visit, and you’ll be fine to drive after. When your dentist is finished, he will turn off the laughing gas and allow for pure oxygen to flow for about 5 minutes.

FAQs

Is laughing gas safe for kids?

Not only is laughing gas safe, but many dentists prefer to use it on children especially if they are nervous or fidgety.

How does laughing gas make you feel?

You may feel a little dizzy or disoriented. You may experience the opposite effect of helium and notice that your voice may go down. You may tend to fixate on objects around the room. These effects wear off quickly.

Does the local anesthesia needle hurt?

We use a topical numbing agent before we inject the local anesthetic. Most people just feel the coldness of the anesthesia or the pressure.

Great dentist. The office is very clean and the staff are very knowledgeable and nice. I have been to some pretty bad dentists and I'm happy to say that this office is not one of them.

Danielle K.

I have been very pleased with the dental office. The dentist there spotted a problem in a tooth that I have complained about for years that no other dentist ever was able to see. The office is friendly and clean and there are TVs mounted above you so you can watch shows while they work on your teeth. Great place!
